The Enrique Vargas Trio presents the Short Circuit Concert Series, 4 free-admission performances in Chicago from January 24th-31st 2026.
The music is original jazz, funk, and r&b compositions. The trio features Andrea Dionisi on drums, Hank Fisher on guitar, and Enrique Vargas on bass and vocals.
The concert series is in anticipation for their 2026 debut album, Short Circuit.
Short Circuit is an exploration of the mind, body, and soul. The connection between them, the disconnection between them, and the interplay.
Why does the body tense up when the mind feels anxious?
What effects do chronic pain have on the mind?
How does passion push the body and mind past it's limits?
Can I separate the three? Are they even united?
This album puts concentrated emotions into songs.
Clarity, anxiety, love, dread, longing, aggression, selfishness, faith.
It's a mapping of my internal circuits in an attempt to navigate them, as well as make fixes when it inevitably short circuits.
